When planning our trip to Portugal, we wanted to visit both Lisbon and Porto. After doing some research (car vs. train vs. plane), we decided to hire a driver to take us from Lisbon to Porto and make a few stops along the way!
Óbidos
The first stop from Lisbon to Porto was Óbidos, a charming and historic town that offers a unique glimpse into Portuguese culture and history. It is walled-in, has medieval influences, and is full of meandering streets, cafes, and shops.

Timur, our driver and guide for the day, took us on a walk along the wall that allowed to see some stunning landscapes of Óbidos and the surrounding area!

Nazaré
We then drove for about 30 minutes to Nazaré, a town that has become popular recently due to the 2021 TV series 100 Foot Wave. We knew that it technically wasn’t “wave season,” but we were still curious and interested in checking it out!

While in Nazaré, Timur took us to a delicious seafood lunch along the beach.

Sophie and Melanie got the fish of the day, which was sea bass!

Although the waves were not very big, the town features several huge Atlantic beaches that we got to see from to the top of ginormous cliffs.

Both of these towns were great spots to help break up the 3 hour drive from Lisbon to Porto!
