Talloires is a picturesque village nestled on the shores of Lake Annecy. It offers breathtaking views of the surrounding Alps and is renowned for its natural beauty.
We had a wonderful stay at Cottage Bise. Other accommodations we considered and hear are amazing are Abbaye de Talloires and L’Auberge du Père Bise.

Food
Les Terrasses du Cottage: This restaurant offers an exceptional gastronomic experience with a breathtaking terrace overlooking Lake Annecy. It’s renowned for its refined cuisine, prepared by a “Maître Restaurateur” chef, and its inviting ambiance perfect for a memorable meal.

Le 1903 at L’Auberge du Père Bise: Le 1903 at L’Auberge du Père Bise, helmed by Chef Jean Sulpice, offers a sophisticated yet accessible experience. This restaurant, named after the year the historic Auberge was founded, serves refined takes on regional classics with a focus on fresh, local ingredients. We enjoyed a delicious lunch with stunning views of the lake through the rotunda windows. Right next door to this restaurant is Jean Sulpice’s other fancier restaurant which has two Michelin stars and a Green Star for sustainability.

Le Café de la Place: This was recommended by Jessie and Aaron and we very much enjoyed it. This charming and casual French bistrot is located in the heart of Talloires and offers a plentiful and delicate menu of traditional recipes. We really loved the homemade French fries!

La Cabane à Glaces at Abbaye de Talloires: We loved this cute and delicious ice cream spot on the lake.

Activities
Explore Lac d’Annecy: We enjoyed walking along the lake throughout the day and at sundown. We didn’t rent any boats or paddle boards, but enjoyed swimming!

Hike to Saint Germain’s Church: The hike to Saint Germain’s Church offers a rewarding experience with stunning panoramic views of Lake Annecy and the surrounding mountains. This picturesque walk leads to a historic church built in 1780. The trail offers a perfect blend of natural beauty and historical significance, and its length and steepness were just right for us.

Visit Tufts’ Campus: Tufts University operates its European Center in Talloires in a historic 11th-century building. Even though the two of us didn’t study abroad in Talloires while college students, we had many friends who did. We enjoyed visiting the campus, sharing that we are Tufts alum, and exploring the grounds.

Spa Day: Many of the hotels in Talloires have beautiful, relaxing spas. We enjoyed the spa at Abbaye de Talloires, which had a Norwegian shower, cold plunge, steam room, and sauna. Melanie also loved her massage! We didn’t take any photos in the spa, but the steps up to the spa offered beautiful views!
