We made it! We landed early this morning, got through customs easily, and then took an Uber from the airport to our hotel in Copacabana. It was about a 30 minute drive and we drove on a highway that overlooked the favelas. After a quick nap at the hotel and a yummy lunch at Santa Satisfação (which we highly recommend), we went for a 4 hour walk from Copacabana to Ipanema to Leblon to Lago Rodrigo de Freitas (about 9 miles). Despite the gloomy weather, the beach was beautiful! At the end of our walk, we found a grocery store to grab bottled water and a bottle of wine. Now we are at the hotel rooftop to take in the views and eat some Brazilian fried chicken. We are still a bit jetlagged, so we will probably head to bed early. We plan on going to see the famous Christ the Redeemer statue tomorrow AM!
