In June 2025, our friends got married in Beaune and it was a great excuse to go to a spot that was never on our list of places to visit. Beaune is in Burgundy, France. Its old, winding streets are full of historic buildings, great restaurants, and shopping. For us, Beaune was a great “24 hour city” and we highly recommend it as a stopping point when traveling throughout France and Switzerland. Here is our shared Google map of spots in Beaune.
Food
Bistrot des Halles Baltard Café: We stumbled across this café after taking a red eye to Geneva and then driving 3 hours to Beaune. We were exhausted and starving, and this café had speedy service and delicious food.

Restaurant Au Coq Bleu: We went here for lunch before getting ready for the wedding. We highly recommend ordering the escargot!

Boulangerie: We learned about this spot months before our trip and we were determined to get to it. It opens at 7:30AM, we arrived at 10:30AM, and most of the bread and pastries were already sold out! That being said, the bread we bought was great.

Activities & Shopping
Château de Varennes: This is where the wedding was and it was absolutely gorgeous!

Walk throughout Town: The town is small and it’s fun to just bop around.

La Moutarderie Fallot: Beaune is near Dijon, which is famous for mustard. This is a contemporary artisanal mustard factory where we enjoyed trying and buying some mustard.

Petit Bateau la farandole des enfants: This is a cute baby clothing store. We had fun buying a few cute outfits to bring home to Mia 🥰.

Chloe: If we had more room in our suitcase, Melanie would have bought a lot from here. This home goods boutique has beautiful plates, serving utensils, and candles.

Mille et Une Feuilles: We stumbled upon this book store.

Next Time
- Hospices de Beaune: This is a top attraction in Beaune. We walked by it, but didn’t go inside. Next time, we’d like to get tickets and actually go inside the museum.
- Domaine Comte Senard: This is a winery that is a 10 minute drive from Beaune. Supposedly the wine is incredible!
- Le Bistro de L’Hôtel: This is a delicious dinner spot that a friend recommended.

Great trip and pictures. Thanks for sharing.
